Conceptual Dependency

Keywords: primitive acts, semantic expectation-based parsing

Categories: Natural Language

Author(s): Karen Sp\"arck Jones

A theory of meaning representation developed by Roger Schank and extensively exploited at Yale, relying on deep `conceptual' Semantic Primitives and Case Frames and providing a strong decomposition of word and text meaning. The emphasis on key primitive acts and required properties of the fillers of their (obligatory) roles is used to drive primarily semantic expectation-based parsing.
