Author(s): Austin Tate

Information about a plan which represents the purpose of the various plan parts in terms of the goals or subgoals they are intended to achieve. This can be contrasted with the Plan Structure which contains details which may obscure information important to the finding of causes for planning or execution failures. The STRIPS Macro Operator Tables) used such information for plan execution. Goal structure has been used in a linear planner (INTERPLAN) and a non-linear planner (NONLIN) to guide search. It can be viewed as a Meta-planning technique.
