Meta-action Oriented Planning
Aliases: Agenda Based Planning, Meta-planning, Opportunistic Planning
Author(s): Jim Doran
The operations that a planner performs upon the plans it is working with (e.g., expansion, reduction) are referred to as `meta-actions'. A flexible and opportunity based choice of which meta-action to perform next can be achieved by maintaining a heuristic scheduler, where the tasks on the agenda correspond to possible meta-action executions. There is a close relationship to Blackboard architectures. Meta-planning occurs when a planner constructs plans which involve explicit representations of meta-actions. See also Meta-level Inference.
