An object is described in object-centred co-ordinates if the coordinate origin is fixed with respect to the object, the coordinate axes are defined by the structure of the object, and all other object points are defined with respect to that system. This description is, then, independent of viewpoint. One task of a vision system is to move from Viewer-centred Description to object-centred description.
